There’s tons of snow, but It’s a race to beat the inversion in Whistler! Robin, Annie and Hana end up finding some good snow and the jumping begins. Plus, a bonus pillow day with Leanne Pelosi, David Melancon and Claudia Avon.
Riding smooth and technical Canadian Brooke Voigt took the win over the all American field of riders at her first GFFT Finals. Brooke’s run started off with a 50-50 on the first rail, into a 50-50 frontside boardslide, then a tailgrab off the cannon rail. She then landed a smooth frontside 360 on the first jump, earning points from the judges for her execution. This win solidify’s her entry into next years Dew Tour where we’re sure she will make a statement with her technical riding and hard charging attitude. Congrats Brooke!

It’s time to learn your new favorite trick—the backside 180. Jordan Mendenhall takes a break from filming with the Videograss crew to teach you BS 180 basics: start small, focus your gaze on the nose, and don’t force the 180 around—trust that it’ll come around. This is a trick you can make all your own just by adding personal style. You got this!

Snowboarding is much more than just banger after banger; It’s a journey, it’s euphoria, it’s pain, it’s excitement, it’s fear, it’s meeting new people, it’s sending it, it’s SNOWBOARDING.
Aaron was always the driving force behind this project. When it seemed like things weren’t gonna work out he always found a way to make it happen. He loved a challenge! I spent this last winter traveling around to many of his favorite places, meeting up with friends, and making some new ones along the way. I feel so lucky to have been able to share such great times with such an amazing person.
When Aaron passed away in Chile this last July it was hard to even think about the movie, let alone sit down and edit hours of his footage from the winter. It wasn’t until Blake Paul sent me an email highlighting the fact that one of Aaron’s goals all season was to get everyone down to Chile and film a segment for the movie that I came to realize something that should have been so obvious. We had to head South and finish what he had started. Although we were physically missing the one person who really should have been on that trip I feel like he was actually with us more than ever. We’ll miss you A-ROB!
P.S… If I Told You, I Would Have To Kill You

A new documentary shines the spotlight on a unique winter sport. It’s called “splitboard mountaineering” and it uses a special board that can be used as a snowboard or split into skis as needed! Kyle Miller, a local splitboarding pioneer and the focus of the documentary called “FreeRider,” joined Margaret to talk about his love of the sport and the documentary. He also revealed a secret: he’s afraid of heights!
The FreeRider documentary will have its US premiere in Seattle on Friday, February 3 at 7:30pm, at the Mountaineers Program Center in Seattle. The event benefits the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center.
