Congrats Brooke on another win!
With over $30,000 fundraised for the breast cancer research, 687,260 vertical feet logged, and an assortment of creative pink costumes, the Pink Chase was a huge success! 19 teams combining a total of 57 women-skiers, snowboarders, tele skiers of varying ages– youthful 23 year olds to bright eyed 56 year olds participated in the Pink Chase Fundraiser at Keystone Resort, CO on December 12th. Despite the frigid temperatures, the women arrived in the early hours, energetic, and dressed from head to toe in an array of pink costumes—full piece bunny suits to Lady Gaga impersonators (Gaga for Gnar of course!), snow angels, and pink capes ready for a day of riding. Apres started promptly at 3PM at Parrot Eyes, followed by the awards ceremony (and raffle), mc’ed by K2’s very own Michael Powell. Tons of giveaways from our sponsors. PINK Hats were the hit, and the party didn’t stop till DJ Shares turned off his turn tables.
Be sure to check out the photos from the event! Hope to see you all and your friends back next year! Check back in the spring for details on PINK CHASE 2010!
We would also like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers for making this event possible. We couldn’t have done it without you!
The PINK CHASE FUNDRAISER offers women of all ages and disciplines: the opportunity to be involved in an all women’s snow event, make a difference by fundraising for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), win great prizes and have a ton of fun skiing and riding with the K2 Alliance, their friends and other women teams for a day!
This past weekend marked one of the first major stops in the run for the 2010 Olympics with the first stop of the Grand Prix at Copper Mountain. I followed it via the massive amounts of twittering that was happening throughout the event, sad that I was not down there to cheer on the K2 riders in person…and that I was missing all the fresh new CO snow. However there was no short of coverage from our friends at Trasworld Snowboarding, Snowboarder Magazine and Snowboard Mag. But all in-all it was by far one of the heaviest pipe sessions North America has seen yet to date and proved that this is going to be no easy race.
Of course our eyes were glued to Gretchen who qualified first on Friday with a huge score of 47.1 (see below) who in the end started the season off with a second place finish behind Kelly Clark after a very heated battle. Check out all the coverage from the links above or read what Gretchen had to sa about it herself here: Gretchen Bleiler.com. Here is an outlay of Gretchen’s final run from TWS:
After all the media hype, summer shred ramp up, and speculation of who is in the running for this year’s US Olympic Snowboard Team the time for answers is finally upon us. This weekend marks the beginning of rush to Gold as Olympic hopefuls compete against one another in the US Grand Prix in Copper and Gretchen Bleiler did not start off slow. Taking first in the qualifiers today with a 47.10 she is on her way straight to the finals. Check out TRANSWORLD SNOWBOARDING for more pics…
